Calum Kerr leads this popular workshop to get you writing short, short stories.
It can be in a tweet. A Facebook post. Fifty, a hundred, two hundred, five hundred, a thousand or some other pre-set limit of words; in flash fiction, narrative is condensed so that it says exactly what it needs to (without ignoring plot or character development). The result can be breathtaking. In this workshop you will learn how to work within the confines of extreme brevity so that you can go on to produce the dribble (50 words), the drabble (100 words), and sudden fiction (750 words).
Suitable for all levels of writing experience.
Calum is a writer, editor, and Teaching Fellow in Creative Writing, and Director of National Flash Fiction Day. His work has appeared in a number of places – online and in print – and was featured on BBC Radio 4’s iPM programme. He lives in Southampton with his wife, his stepson, two cats and a dog.
